First Pregnancy Books
The libraries of 100 first pregnancy books was an ambitious educational article series of feature-editor of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit. Started in 1978, was published in the next two years, each week a review of a work of world literature. 1980 published a book edition of these essays by Suhrkamp Verlag, edited by Fritz J. Raddatz, the sales success the great interest in this kind of canon formation was confirmed, and the essay collection of 2009 is unchanged in the 13th Rest in front. The success of the company meant that the project was completed five years later a collection of libraries of the 100 non-fiction, the book edition worried again Raddatz 1984 as publisher. Finally, followed in 2002 and 2003 a series of articles intended to propose a series of 50 works of comprehensive reading canon for students, the time-student library. Based on the observation that in a then recent study about the reading habits of the reception of the "beautiful literature" far behind landed behind various types of dictionaries and reference books, was declared aim to teach reading, to entice you to read. The selection of the works concerned a six-person jury (Rudolf Walter Leonhardt, Hans Mayer, Rolf Michaelis, Fritz J. Raddatz, Peter Wapnewski and Dieter E. Zimmer), which invited the reviewers. Some of the works were presented by the jury members themselves, most reviewers were not professional book critic, but even well-known writers. Their subjective perspective on the works from their own reading experience and enthusiasm turns out part of the appeal of the collection.
